Origin Charges

Category: Charges

Definition (plain English)

Export-side local costs such as pickup, documentation, export handling, terminal handling, loading, customs filing, certificates, or consolidation fees.

Why it matters commercially

Origin charges decide whether EXW, FOB, FCA, or supplier-managed freight quotes are truly comparable before a buyer approves the PO.

Example

An EXW quote looked cheaper until the buyer added pickup, export documents, origin terminal handling, and forwarder handoff charges.

Common mistake

Assuming origin charges are included because the supplier quoted a unit price or because the freight quote only shows main carriage.
