MSDS / SDS
Category: Compliance
Also searched as: Safety Data Sheet
Definition (plain English)
A safety data sheet describing chemical hazards, composition, handling, storage, transport, exposure controls, and emergency measures for a product or substance.
Why it matters commercially
SDS data drives DG classification, warehouse acceptance, customer safety review, and whether a forwarder or carrier can legally move the shipment.
Example
The buyer asked for the latest SDS before quoting freight because the product could be flammable and might require DG handling.
Common mistake
Using an old SDS that does not match the exact formulation, language, manufacturer, transport classification, or destination requirement.
