EUR-MED

Category: Customs

Also searched as: EUR MED certificate

Definition (plain English)

A preferential origin certificate used in Pan-Euro-Med trade when origin rules and cumulation conditions support a preference claim.

Why it matters commercially

EUR-MED can reduce duty, but an invalid certificate or unsupported cumulation claim can lead to duty recovery and failed customer pricing.

Example

Before quoting a preference-based price, the importer asked the supplier and broker whether EUR-MED cumulation applied to the finished product and its inputs.

Common mistake

Requesting EUR-MED by habit without checking HS code, origin rule, cumulation evidence, invoice wording, and whether the destination accepts the claim.
