DAP

Category: Incoterms

Definition (plain English)

Delivered At Place means the seller arranges transport to a named destination place, with the buyer usually responsible for import clearance, duty, taxes, and unloading unless agreed otherwise.

Why it matters commercially

DAP can reduce buyer logistics work but still leaves importer-of-record, tax cashflow, customs clearance, and unload responsibilities that must be priced and assigned.

Example

A supplier offered DAP buyer warehouse, but the buyer still had to appoint the customs broker, pay duty and import VAT, and arrange unloading appointment rules.

Common mistake

Assuming DAP includes DDP-style duty, VAT, customs brokerage, or unloading responsibility without written confirmation.
