CPT
Category: Incoterms
Definition (plain English)
Seller pays carriage to named destination, typically for any transport mode.
Why it matters commercially
CPT is useful for non-ocean-only flows, but risk transfer still occurs before final arrival.
Example
Supplier quotes CPT inland terminal; buyer still plans import clearance and final-mile costs.
Common mistake
Reading CPT as if risk stays with seller until goods reach your warehouse.
